At first, Rose puts in all her efforts with the most talented of her girls, June hoping to make her world famous. So together they perform their vaudeville show at various third rate theatres. However, vaudeville is soon pushed aside by the then more fashionable burlesque style and so their bookings become few and far between. And to make matters worse, June runs away with one of the tap dancers in the group. Rose then aims her ambitions at her eldest daughter Louise who eventually, after much hard work, turns into the elegant stripper Gypsy Rose Lee. She achieves great success and inevitably breaks free from her Mother who is then left lamenting her own suppressed talents that she sacrificed for the sake of her ungrateful daughters and their careers. It is a passionate story supported by amazing music. Orchestration: Piano Conductor Violin A Violin B Viola Cello Bass Reed I.
