The story takes place on a summer evening around an outlying wooden house somewhere down South. Three prisoners, who are chained to each other, are playing cards whilst the guards and the dogs are looking for an escaped prisoner in the forest. There is an unpleasant and odd spirit in this whole scenario. The three men agree that the prisoner must have succeeded in his attempt at escaping.
