This grandiose Austrian musical is about the life of Empress Elisabeth (1837-1898) – from the marvellous beginning to the fatal end. Elisabeth marries Emperor Franz Joseph at the age of 16. However, life is about to let her go through a test. After the death of her youngest daughter and the infidelity of her husband, she becomes so disillusioned she decides to leave without considering the consequences of her actions. One of the reasons why her son commits suicide is the severe loneliness he suffers and the magnitude of her disappointments almost drives Elisabeth to undergo the same fate. Nevertheless, a man murders her in the end.
