In a series of intercut monologues, Henry Naylor follows two idealistic young women born 175 years apart: A jihadist romantic from present London who travels to the Middle East to marry an Islamist warrior; and a Victorian woman who embarks on a journey to India to marry a man of the new Empire. Both are adventurers with strong religious beliefs and both on a mission to impose a system of government upon an unwilling people. One in the name of the caliphate, the other in the name of colonialism. ECHOES is a provocative and brutal story, that shows surprising similarities between the past and the present like in a historical echo. Winner of the Edinburgh Spirit of the Fringe Award 2015, The Creative Award - Prague Fringe 2016 and BankSA Best Theatre Award - Adelaide Fringe 2016.
