The play is about a Dionysian adventurer, Dion, a pyromaniac drug dealer who is returning from war and imprisonment. Dion is an enchanting and destructive character, able to easily combine tenderness and brutality. Now he wants to liberate his surroundings by any means. Dion considers it morally reprehensible to sleep; to sleep would make it impossible to observe all that is going on. With the power of his dark and dangerous instincts, Dion tries to awaken the living dead, but ultimately dies of a congenital disease. Vizki treats Dion's death as that of a martyr. If the human soul must be saved it needs the darkness as well as the light. The play is translated into German.
