Dybegaarden is a beautiful farm with 300 acres of land. It has been the possession of the Sværke family for more than 150 years. Martha, the mistress of the farm, is a proud, tough woman; harden by the life with her husband, Hans Sværke, who has a vague nature and a propensity to gamble. One day unhappiness hits the family.
