A November evening André arrives at the Theatre Café to pick up a letter sent to him by the love of his youth, Tordis Eck. The letter contains a picture of an old lady in a hunting costume, Isabella de Creuith, a long gone aunt of Tordis’ grand dad. Tordis had retreated to her villa “Mågeskrig” (shriek of a seagull). André remembers his meeting with Tordis the past summer, when he and his wife went to Mågeskrig on The Iselø Beach. Tordis told the story about the ghost of Aunt Isabella and her odd Pekingese, Dicky, who was only seen as a blue gleam on the sky. Now André sits at the Café realizing that Tordis has committed suicide. A beautifully mitigated message about the struggle between the emptiness, selfishness, isolation and hopelessness of the common life on the one hand; on the other hand a life in unity, brotherly responsibility, hope and the will to live.
