A Pulitzer and Laurence Olivier award winning comedy, which takes place in Chicago in the beginning of the 1950’s. A white married couple are about to sell their house to a black family, but the neighbors aren’t keen on the idea in fear of that black people in their white neighborhood will affect the house market’s prices. The second half of the play takes place 50 years later in the same house. The roles have been switched – the neighborhood has become a black community and a white couple, wanting to move into the house, are med with resistance. A lot has changes, but the conflicts are familiar, who wants strangers close to home? A humorous text about racism and ignorance. Opened at the Playwrights Horizons in 2010.
