This play is based on a structure derived from Arthur Schnitzler's La Ronde. In interconnected series of 11 extreme scenes that range from the erotic to the macabre and everything in between (two character set-ups feature one character from each scene turning up in the next scene, and so on), it follows a variety of couples - gay and straight, married and unmarried - through the course of an evening in a Barcelona neighborhood. Some of the couples are emotionally linked, others the result of circumstance. Gradually, patterns of cruelty and lack of communication emerge, within and across generations. This is a strong text, with rough language and sexual explicitness. It has been performed all around Europe in many languages and was made into a film by the director Ventura Pons.
