Camp Siegfried was a real American summer camp that from the 1930’s taught Nazi ideology and was owned by the German American Bund, an American Nazi organization dedicated to promoting a positive view of Nazi Germany. In Bess Wohl’s play, two teenagers meet in this camp and fall in love while they get intoxicated by the Nazi ideology.
