A wealthy doctor hosts a party where the guests chit chat about the future of the Welfare State. Then at breakfast the next morning, while the doctor and his wife discuss practicalities in connection with their divorce, the maid announces that their son has committed suicide. And so this play concerns people, who have reached a certain standard in life and are petrified of any kind of change.
