The play is a meeting between Selma Lagerlöf and Tora Teje, a young actress who was to star in Julius Jaensons film based on Lagerlöf's book "The coachman" but who lost her part when she lost her place as Juliu's mistress. She is looking for an explanation and brings chaos into everyone's lives when she enters the room. What Enquist starts as a meeting between real life artists explores aspects of the human condition as experienced by the characters mixing their documented life with his own interpretation.
