The play takes place in a hospital room. Tony (20), a baseball player, has an infection in his leg and insists on joining today’s big game even though the doctors won’t let him. Dave (20) has a lung infection, sleeps poorly at night and spends the majority of his time with daydreaming. Later Walton (50), who is scheduled for brain surgery, is committed. The interactions between patients and staff are lively in this cryptic play.

ONE ACTS BY TENN is a series of one act plays by Tennessee Williams, written in the thirties and the forties. They can be performed separately or with others. Regarding USA productions the performance has been given the title 5 BY TENN or 8 BY TENN.
