A warm, black comedy about love, loss, courage, art and war. The two characters, Carmela and Paulino, are a vaudeville comedy duo, who have accidentally wandered across military lines and have fallen into the hands of Franco’s fascists troops during the Spanish Civil War (1936-39). They’re forced to put on a theatrical performance and during the rehearsals of their show – flamenco songs, the paso doble and bizarre comedy routines – their own stories are unfolded as the action moves back and forth in time. The play’s title refers to an anti-Nationalist song from the Spanish Civil War. Dream parts for two actors.
