AUSTRALIA is inspired by a true story. The play is about the pregnant teacher Coco, who’s pregnant and is forced to deliver her child behind bars, since the father of the child is Coco’s 13-year-old student, Billy. Coco asks Billy’s best friend Karl to stay after class in order to hear about Billy and to be cheered up, but the two of them seem to stay in the empty classroom a little bit too long. AUSTRALIA goes behind the sensational story and focuses with sensitivity about the taboo of abuse and forbidden love and further on the painful transition from child to adult.
