The old and fat Mrs. Rooney is headed for the little Irish railway station to collect her blind husband. On the way she meets several men of her own age and has a little conversation with them. One of them gives her a ride, despite the difficulties of getting her into the car. When they arrive the last intricacy is the stairs leading to the station. It appears that the train is delayed. No one really knows why! However, the train arrives with the blind, grumpy, cheap and tyrannical Mr. Rooney as passenger. Together the disharmonious couple staggers home, bound to each other in a love-hate relationship. As a last horrifying effect, we encounter that the train delay was caused by the fact that a small child had fallen off the train and was crushed under the wheels.
