Set in 1930’s St. Louis, the play takes place in Dorothea’s apartment. A teacher, Dorothea, aspires to marry, but sees her prime years fading. She lives with Bodey, a gregarious and proud woman of German heritage. Bodey wishes that Dorothea marry her twin brother Buddy. Upstairs lives Sophie, a frantic and distraught woman whose mother just passed away. Sophie relies on Bodey and Dorothea for company and comfort. Helena, a colleague of Dorothea’s, enters into this eccentric scene with her confidence, bravado and ambition to succeed. This wonderfully etched portrait of four women will touch audiences with its tenderness, entertain with its comic interludes and inspire with its dreams of a better life.
