Ronald Millar

Sir Ronald Graeme Millar (1919-1998) was an English actor, speechwriter and playwright. He made his first appearance on the stage in 1940, and was seen in a number of productions before devoting himself entirely to playwriting. His works includes: Murder from Memory (1942), The Other Side (1946), Frieda (1946), Champagne for Delilah (1949), Waiting for Gillian (1954), the outstanding success The Bride and the Bachelor (1956) and many more. As a speechwriter to the earlier Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher he was coined for the famous line “The lady is not for turning”.
