Roland Dubillard

Dubillard (b. 1923) is a French playwright. Together with Obaldia, Weingarten and Vauthier, he belonged to the second wave of Absurdist writers, who sought to renew the language of theatre by verbal experiments. His plays bear the influence of his earlier career as an actor performing cabaret sketches and as radio producer. Their plots are minimal, and often amount to a kind of amiable chitchat exposing the solitude of the characters. His most admired play is Naïves hirondelles (1961). Other plays are: Si Camille me voyait (1953), La Maison d'os (1964), Où boivent les vaches (1972), Diablogues (1975), L'Eau en poudre (1978). He has also published poems and fiction.
