Lilje Windbirk (b. 1971) is a Danish actress, playwright and director. She graduated from Theatre Studio in 1999 and has worked within the Danish children's and youth theatre as both actress, director and teacher with a special focus on young people and talent development. She has directed musicals such as CHICAGO and RENT, but also written musicals for a young audience. In 2013 she was admitted to the Dramatiker Væksthus’ writers programme, and in 2016 she won the FAIR PLAY theatre prize for her script ANTON'S GREAT HEART. The play has also been translated and published in Germany. As a playwright, Lilje Windbirk has a special ability to capture difficult topics with humour, ease and poetry.
