Kingsley Day

Kingsley Day is active in the Chicago area as a composer, lyricist, playwright, musical director/pianist, and actor. With Philip LaZebnik he has cowritten the comedy TOUR DE FARCE and the musicals SUMMER STOCK MURDER, STATE STREET, and DEAR AMANDA, all originally produced in Chicago. Day has won critical acclaim for his incidental music for productions of Shakespeare’s THE TEMPEST and Aeschylus’ PROMETHEUS BOUND, his original score for the lost Gilbert & Sullivan operetta THESPIS, and his new performing edition of the classic Kern musical OH, BOY! for the show’s 2010 Chicago revival. His recent onstage roles include Terry in CASA VALENTINA, the Judge in TRIAL BY JURY, Scrooge in A CHRISTMAS CAROL, and Sir Harcourt in LONDON ASSURANCE. Day’s reconstruction of Chopin’s posthumous F minor Mazurka is published by Hal Leonard’s Schirmer Performance Editions.
