Juha Jokela (b. 1970) is a modern writer in the best sense of the word. His witty and surprising humour, compelling narratives and nuanced characterisations are tightly bound to the present moment. Whether focusing his sharp vision on the world of business or of the spirit, he writes with deep understanding for the personalities involved.

Juha Jokela studied directing at the Theatre Academy of Finland and already as a student began writing for television. His first black comedy series was Nahkiaiset in 1999. It was followed by Pulkkinen, a 35-part comedy 1999-2001, and the 12-part comedies Remontti and Firma in 2005. Pulkkinen was a big success and won many awards, amongst others the Experts’ Choice Award Venla for best comedy series in 1999, and the Viewers’ Choice Award (Venla) for the most popular entertainment show in 2000. Remontti and Firma were also winners of many awards.

In 2003 followed Jokela’s theatre debut Mobile Horror which garnered unprecedented critical acclaim. Jokela’s plays has been staged in several countries.
