He has written extensively for radio and co-authored Diamond Behind My Eyes with his wife in 1997. His first play was a musical about the Ipswich Town Football club in 1974. After A State of Affairs (1985) he wrote The Light of Day (1987), Marrakech (1989), The Border (1990) and Hyde Park (1992).
