Gary Owen is a Welsh writer. Gary's first play CRAZY GARY’S MOBILE DISCO wooed audiences last year. It’s was winner of Welsh Theatre Award for Best New Play. His second play, SHADOW AF A BOY, opened at the National Theatre in June 2002. Multi Fringe First Award Winners and masters of new writing, Paines Plough returns to the Traverse with a new play by Gary Owen, THE DROWNED WORLD. Where Gary Owen creates a nihilistic new world where the imperfect, once spurned have taken control, where suburbia is sick and attraction is ultimately fatal. This is Gary Owen's third play: Previously for Paines Plough with Script Cymru – CRACY GARY’S MOBILE DISCO and most recently SHADOW OF A BOY for The National Theatre. He was writer in residence at Paines Plough during 2001.
