PÅFUGLEN – en uretfærdig musical (THE PEACOCK – an unjust musical)
Lyrics: Tyra Tønnessen

Music: Jovan Pavlovic

New Norwegian

The peacocks are living in Birdland and the Labradors in Dogland. The peacocks are poor and dream of a better future… perhaps the possibilities of a better life can be found in Dogland? Mother Peacock embarks on a journey to Dogland, but the cultural differences are big, and the rich dogs aren’t as willing to help her as she’d thought.

The musical uses humour and fairy-tale to tell a story about important contemporary issues. The piece had its first opening in 2015 at Trøndelag Teater in Norway. The show received great reviews, emphasizing that the musical ‘challenges political correct answers and shows that the world is complicated.’

THE PEACOCK received a Hedda-Prize nomination as well as a nomination for the Ibsen Prize for Best Script in 2015.
