Devlin and Rebecca, a couple in their forties, are having a rather tense conversation because he demands her to answer his questions about one of her former lovers and their sadomasochistic relationship, where one of their rituals meant that she had to kiss his fists and then ask him to make to strangle her.
Devlin’s curiosity and compulsive suspicion of her sexual past together with Rebecca’s ‘subjective’ memory during their power struggle, mean that the play holds resemblances to OLD TIMES, only here it deals with two people rather than three.
But it also holds references to motifs in his short and politically shocking plays. Through Rebecca’s relived flow of consciousness of Nazi incidents, one senses that it all lies as a deep trauma, which has created a threat to a human relationship.
