Eric is a 60/70-year old Belfast Unionist who has become mad because of his deep hatred to the republicans. He kills his wife and his daughter and her 5-week old baby because he thinks the baby looks like Gerry Adams (the Sinn Féin leader). Later, in a park, he meets a loyalist paramilitary, a loose cannon, who shoots himself in the head because Eric won’t take the gun in his mouth. In between these grotesque stings of action we see Eric in dialogue with a female psychiatrist after the atrocities. A seriously good play which offers a huge part for a mature actor. Fantastically written.
