Tudor Gates (1930-2007) was an English screenwriter. In the early 1950s Gates was involved in stage management and began writing scripts in his spare time. After his TV-success “The Gunvor”, he took on writing full time. He wrote several screenplays for Hammer Film productions and several TV series, including “The Sweeney” and “The Avengers”. In the mid-1970s Gates turned to the stage and wrote “Who saw him die”, “Aurelia” and “Who killed Agatha Christie?”. As a lifelong trade unionist Gates became president of the Association of Cinematograph Television and Allied Technicians and later on he severed as the vice president for BECTU until 2006.
