Florist Seymour desires to get the ailing florist’s shop back on its feet, and dreams of becoming rich and famous. In an attempt to reach his goal, he buys a mysterious plant from an old Chinese man, and names it after his girlfriend Audrey. The plant turns out to be a talkative and blood thirsty meat eater with growing pains and a healthy appetite for especially human flesh. Seymor is forced to hunt after costumers to feed the hungry plant. The victims are bunch of relatively unusual people. This wonderful musical-comedy premiered in 1982 off –Broadway and is based on the legendary American film from 1960. The music is a mixture of 1960ies rock and roll, doo-wop and early Motown and in contains several show-stoppers such as Skid Row (Downtown)”, “Somewhere That’s Green”, “Suddenly Seymour” and “little Shop of Horrors”. Because of the small cast and relatively simple orchestra-arrangements, the musical has become one of the most popular in its genre and has been produced all over the world! Has won the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Musical, London Evening Standard Award for Best Musical, Drama Desk Award as well as an Outer Critics Circle Award.
