This is one of Brecht’s earlier plays, written in the 1920’ies and, as so often in his plays; it concerns a folk saga with moral justice issue. So this play consists of a series of folk sagas that are held together by a narrator and a number of singers, who take turn in playing the various characters as the different stories unfold.
