A fantastic adventure about the trickster Johan, who flees from the inquisitors and ends up at one of Colombus’ ships on its way to India. The encounter with violent Indians horrifies him, but thanks to an incredible sense of survival he manages to get out of both slavery and off the cannibal’s dinner table. Soon he becomes shaman-saint by the tribe that had planned to eat him, and eventually his urge to go back to Europe disappears. So now he must teach his tribe to drive the European colonists away… JOHAN PADAN A LA DESCOVERTA DE LE AMERICHE is a humorous display of encounters between very different cultures and religions and raises the question of which one is the most civilised and ‘healthy’ in the end of the day.
