The author of this tour de force monodrama has got a past as a stand up comedian, which certainly shows in this play. He has had the brilliant idea of telling the greatest story ever told, from a new point of view. Naturally, he is not the first attempting this, as we have seen several versions from the Apostles to Monty Python. However, this time around we are faced with an interesting crown witness; no less than Jesus’ step father, the Carpenter Josef of Nazareth. It cannot have been an easy task he was given from above but the main character, his important destiny and extraordinary family, is portrayed here with a great sense of humour and wit. The part as Josef is a true gift for the right actor.
