Isolation of the individual in a cold and unsympathetic world is the theme of this play. The title of the play is also the opening line which is being repeated. A young man is arrested on falsely accused of rape. He knows that nobody is going to believe him and he is going to be lynched. He cries out his fear and defiance through the prison grille and in a short period of time he gets contact with a real human being. It is a girl, who does not completely understand what it is all about, but feels like she is helping another human being just by being there.
