Even though the myth GEIERWALLY is written back in 1875, it still exists in our subconsciousness. The story is simple: When a young girl refuses to do as expected, she’s rejected by her own father and sent away to the cold mountains. In her solitude in the mountains she has wonderful experiences and meetings. She meets ‘the blessed virgins’ and the mountain troll, Murzoll. She returns to the community, bedraggled but proud. The vulture is with her; a cold heart and the knowledge of power. The evil is combined with guilt against power struggle, love against hatred, nature against civilization and community against expulsion. First impression of the story is a trivial mythic colportage from ‘The Tyrolean Mountains’, but when analyzing it, the story seems as if it is an involuntary, deep inspection of modern states of minds. GEIERWALLY is also a story about a modern woman, who is being expelled by force. She turns into a victim of the rules and clauses of the civilization caused by the fact that she does not obey or let herself being dictated by others.
