The story takes place in an institution for the mentally chronic ill. Rick, 33, cannot read nor write, but he can reel off facts like from an encyclopaedia. Tom, 37, is sitting in a wheelchair and is slightly spastic. It is Good Friday 1969 and the radio speaks about the moon landing. The two roommates are cutting Easter decorations until the nurse takes the scissors away from them – they would not want to hurt themselves. Götestam’s text begins on a light and playful note, but moves towards the more serious part in the story of these men. Their mothers come to visit and are forced to tell the truth about their sons’ lifelong damages together with the reason for their stay at the institution. A comic drama with echoes of Strindberg and Norén, which also makes you think of One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s nest. It is a fine play which combines entertainment with serious problems.
