Ellen becomes a victim of the white eugenics when she is deported to the institution for promiscuous women in the island of Sprogø in 1956. Later her baby girl is being forcibly removed from her and she is sent back to the main land in return for a voluntarily sterilization. The deportation and the forced removal start a domino effect of pain that spreads to the next generations of women, who struggle to escape the feeling of being unwanted.
DEFECTIVE delineates the societal tendencies to separate and remove everything that is different, by telling the story of these defective women.
