This is the first hit-musical about the Rock & Roll hysteria among teenagers. It is an authentic story of the teenager-idol Conrad Birdie and of the excitement he creates in an ordinary American city, Sweet Appletown, during his farewell tour just before his military service. Even though the performance is marked by a strong satire it also gives a wonderful picture of the bright teenage-years. The music is zippy rock & roll – among those ""A Lot of Living to Do,"" Spanish Rose"" and ""One last Kiss"".
