Disney took away the ashes from Cinderella’s cheek and made the fairytale romantic and pink. In the brothers Grimm and Astrid Nielsen’s fairytale Cinderella’s way to the prince and half the kingdom is far more evil. This is the story about the young girl, who has to fight for love and accept. First, her mother dies, and then her father marries an unsympathetic woman, who has to spoiled daughters. The stepmother and sisters can stand the sight of Cinderella and do their best to make her life a living hell. But when the king invites all the city’s young girls to a ball at the castle, in order to let the prince choose his bride, the stepmother forbids Cinderella to come along. But as fairytales and good luck would have it, everything ends happily ever after for Cinderella. Opened at Odense Theatre in April, 2012.
