In a shattered city where corpses are filling streets, the young woman, Sascha, has sought refuge in an abandoned penthouse apartment. A young man, Shura, has struggled his way through the war zone to find Sascha. Now he shows up looking like a mess – and with a fish as his sole possession – while Sascha waits with champagne in the fridge. The two are on representatives of each side of the conflict, but Sascha was long ago admitted to Shura’s family.
Somewhere out in the war-torn city, Shura has killed someone with whom they both share a violent past. A battle begins not to succumb to the loss of civilization.
With DIE ARISTOCRATE, Salzmann scratches the thin varnish of civilization as it unfolds in a dehumanized society.
