Maya Arad Yasur (1976) is a dramaturge and playwright. She holds an M.A. In Dramaturgy from the University of Amsterdam where she graduated with distinction.
Maya has been working as a production dramaturge in Europe and in Israel, specializing in devised theatre and documentary theatre.
As a playwright her plays so far center on issues of identity, exile and war.
Her play God Waits at the Station opened at Habima – Israel’s national theatre in 2014, at Volkstheater Vienna in 2015, at Schauspiel Dresden in 2016 and at Theater Paderborn in 2017. It had a staged reading at AdK in Berlin and it was fully published in the German theatre magazine Theater der Zeit (2016) and in the Polish theatre magazine Dialog (2017)
Her play Ten Minutes from Home opened at Habima – Israel’s national Theatre in 2015.
Her play Suspended (previously titled Diamond Stars) opened at Upstream Theatre in St. Louis in 2016. It had staged readings at Blank Theatre in Los Angeles, at Norske Teatret in Oslo and at StadttheaterBremerhaven, Germany. It won the 1st prize of the international playwriting competition of ITI–UNESCO in 2011 and it will be published in the next edition of the Israeli theatre magazine “Teatron”.
